The Random Dilettante

So…

My plan is to find/buy a whole new template that I can use for wordpr ess that reflects a little more of me in it. Nothing against Wordpress, but their templates suck ass. I suppose it wouldn’t be so bad if I had time to make a banner of my own, or customize my HTML/CSS like I used too ….but alas I don’t have that sort of time anymore. This leads me to tinkering around and trying different templates they offer to see if it’s a good fit…but so far, none of them feel right. I’ve found a few sites that offer customized templates that look pretty cool, so as soon as I can round up the funds ($55-70) I’m going to take the plunge. I have this notion it will help motivate me to blog more? Time will tell!

First I have to get moved into the new house though! Saturday is the big day. Actually so is today because there is a lot of little stuff to do before we get the truck. I’m so excited to move in, you have no idea! It is so very VERY nice. We painted the living room last weekend a green color…damn near a pea-green, but damn it looks good. It has a real Tuscan feel to it. I can’t wait to see our furniture against it. Anyway, I WILL be taking pictures, so look forward to those once we get settled in!

Originally Andrew was going to be leaving this coming Monday for 2 weeks, but they changed it so he will be able to come home at night. Cool eh? I still have next week off too! I will be in HEAVEN…unpacking and all! The only thing that sucks is that I’ll be without internet for about 4 days (gasp!!) - the cable company won’t be out till Tuesday. Somehow I’ll manage though…maybe I’ll go to Panera Bread for the free wi-fi…you know how desperate I can get!

Hmmm. Just wondering if anyone even reads this anymore? Not like I would blame you if you didn’t…it’s been forever since my last post.

We are moving into the new house next weekend..so things have been a little hectic ….

I’ve went out a few Fridays in a row now….I love it!  It’s a nice way to cap off the end of the work week. 

So we were standing in Lowes by the section that has cables for cable and internet and I asked Andrew if there was some magical cable that would convert a phone line into a working ethernet port (hence internet @ work) I knew this was impossible but I was in the mood to humor myself. Andrew just gave me a weird look like he couldn’t believe I asked him such a dumb question. THEN about 5 minutes later, out of nowhere he asks why I don’t just take the extra wireless router we have and use it? Huh? Really? I can do that? FUCK. I CAN DO THAT? Why didn’t I think of that?

No matter. It’s thought of now!

A while back we bought a new router to replace one that we’d had for about 5 years. We were having issues with our wireless signal at home and Andrew thought for sure it was the old shitty router. Only to find out it wasn’t, and now we had 2 routers for no reason. Until now that is!

First thing I did after getting to work was to plug it into the office port downstairs and then ran upstairs to see if the signal was strong enough. You’re reading this, so apparently it worked good enough! The signal is a little low, but it hasn’t really slowed things down that much. I’m just happy that I can check my email and WRITE emails if I have some spare time. Oh! And read blogs, and check the weather, pay bills, bid on Ebay, watch TV shows…OMG the list goes on!

YAY.

This time the lag in posts has a good reason!  I don’t have internet at work anymore!!  It’s horrible and seriously puts a cramp in my style.  We finally moved upstairs to the remolded part of my cottage, which is really nice…but at the moment it’s extremely boring.  There might be a TV coming up there, but there isn’t now…and there is actually some ethernet ports on the wall but they aren’t “live” - hopefully they will be in the future?  Why else would they be there?  Also,  we need a second staff now, but I have no idea when that will happen.  Eventually when those things sort themselves out I might be able to be online again..if even for a little while!

At home I just really don’t have tons of time to hang on here.  In the morning I’m trying to wind down so I can get to sleep soon, and then once I wake up in the afternoon I’m groggy and have to go get Audrey from daycare.  From that point on I’m busy busy with dinner and hanging with the girls until about 7 or 8pm when I lay back down for a nap before I go to work.  I usually don’t worry about getting online much because I could all night at work, but now I need to figure out a way to work it in my lame schedule.

Anyway in other news…..we’re moving AGAIN!  I’m not looking forward to all the work involved, but I’m excited to where we are moving!  It’s off base in a little town about 15 minutes away called “Philadelphia” and we are moving into a HUGE house that we will be renting that’s totally remolded and CHEAPER than living on post.  You can’t beat that!

The kitchen is to DIE FOR, and it has 4 bedrooms so we will finally have an office.  Also the bathrooms are huge and the master bedroom is just INSANE.  It has enough room for all our furniture in it and then a whole other common area.  It really is an awesome HOUSE, and  I can’t wait.  It’s the first time we will have lived in a house, as crazy as that seems!  It’s always been town homes, or apartments.

We’ll be moving the 1st and 2nd of March and then on the 3rd of March Andrew is going in the field for 2 weeks, so I won’t see him again until the 14th…which totally sucks.  I’ll have to do all the unpacking on my own and I also have to the task of finding someone I can trust to stay at the house overnight with the girls so that I don’t have to take 2 weeks off.

So, as you can see, there is plenty going on…I hope I can maintain some of my sanity during the next month or so!
