The Random Dilettante?
Dilettante (pronounced di-lə-ˌtänt - no long “A” at the end, rhymes with savant?) is defined in the Websters Dictionary as:
1 : an admirer or lover of the arts
2 : a person having a superficial interest in an art or a branch of knowledge : dabbler
To start, I am definitely an admirer & a lover of the arts. I eat it up and would have three squares a day if I could! My ideal place to live would be in quaint little town, that had a brilliant art district, coffee shops on every corner, and all the live music I could listen to at my fingertips. I would be one happy girl. Unfortunately this doesn’t describe most military bases where my husband ends up getting stationed at. Someday though..
I am by no means superficial, but I am somewhat of a “dabbler”. I can’t say I know a lot of any ONE thing…but I know a little about A LOT of things…art wise. And if I don’t know, I try to learn and teach myself. It’s just a fun way to express myself and to let go of stress, and at the end you have something you created to show for it, which takes the cake
As far as the “random” part - well anyone who knows me, definitely knows I’m random. One day I’m all about one thing, and the next day I pick up something totally off the wall and obsess over it. I go through definite phases and take a little from each experience “with me” to add to my repertoire !
