The Random Dilettante?

Posted by Glenda under Uncategorized

Dilettante (pronounced di-lə-ˌtänt - no long “A” at the end, rhymes with savant?) is defined in the Websters Dictionary as:

1 : an admirer or lover of the arts

2 : a person having a superficial interest in an art or a branch of knowledge : dabbler

To start, I am definitely an admirer & a lover of the arts. I eat it up and would have three squares a day if I could! My ideal place to live would be in quaint little town, that had a brilliant art district, coffee shops on every corner, and all the live music I could listen to at my fingertips. I would be one happy girl. Unfortunately this doesn’t describe most military bases where my husband ends up getting stationed at. Someday though..

I am by no means superficial, but I am somewhat of a “dabbler”. I can’t say I know a lot of any ONE thing…but I know a little about A LOT of things…art wise. And if I don’t know, I try to learn and teach myself. It’s just a fun way to express myself and to let go of stress, and at the end you have something you created to show for it, which takes the cake :)

As far as the “random” part - well anyone who knows me, definitely knows I’m random. One day I’m all about one thing, and the next day I pick up something totally off the wall and obsess over it. I go through definite phases and take a little from each experience “with me” to add to my repertoire !

So there you have it! Insight into the name ” The Random Dilettante” - Feel better now? I do :)
